Barbara Sinclair was born in Detroit, MI, where she graduated from the Center for Creative Studies (now the College for Creative Studies) with a BFA in Painting. For many years she exhibited in and around the Detroit area, including shows at the Museum of New Art, Ann Arbor Art Center, and the Detroit Artist’s Market.
In 2003 she relocated to Manhattan where she lived for over a decade until moving across the river to another thriving art community in Jersey City. Barbara recently participated in ART150, a group show of artists who live and work at 150 Bay Street, in the Powerhouse Arts District. Drawn to abstraction, even as a child, Barbara’s fascination with words, and her love of painting and writing lend her work a journalistic quality - often dealing with themes of personal growth and exploration.
